BIOGRAPHY
Irish pianist Rebecca Warren is a répétiteur and collaborative pianist based between Ireland and the UK. She has worked as a répétiteur and vocal coach on many opera productions including Ernani, The Boatswain’s Mate and The Land of Might-Have-Been (Buxton International Festival 2023, 2024), Le maschere, La fille du régiment, La ciociara and Lalla Roukh (Wexford Festival Opera 2022, 2023, 2024), Aida, Madama Butterfly, The Deadly World of Opera and Die Zauberflöte (Irish National Opera 2018-19), Dream Catchr (RIAM), Le nozze di Figaro (Saluzzo Opera Academy), Les enfants terribles, L'étoile, A Feast in Time of Plague, Mozart e Salieri and Four Sisters (RCS), La Cambiale di Matrimonio and Cavalleria Rusticana (Spazio Musica).
In 2023 Rebecca made her debut as Musical Director for La fille du régiment at Wexford Festival Opera, directing a condensed version of this Donizetti favourite from the piano. She resumed the role of Musical Director at Buxton International Festival in July 2024, directing from the piano an arrangement for string trio of Ethel Smyth’s The Boatswain’s Mate.
A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (MMus Repetiteurship), Rebecca was répétiteur with the inaugural Irish National Opera Studio 2018/2019, and in 2020 was awarded the prestigious Next Generation Artist Award by the Arts Council Ireland. She was also répétiteur with the Wexford Factory 2022/2023, a young artist programme run by Wexford Festival Opera. Rebecca is a past winner of the Fintan O’Carroll Feis Senior Piano Competition, received the Bridget Doolan Memorial Award during her final year of undergraduate studies and was recently awarded the James H Geddes Award for Répétiteurs. She has been accompanist for masterclasses with, amongst others, Patricia Bardon, Josephine Barstow, Orla Boylan, Susan Bullock, Graeme Danby, Tara Erraught, Brenda Hurley, Sally Matthews, Ann Murray, Paula Murrihy, Chris Purves, Joan Rodgers and Keith Warner. She also has a strong background in choral work and has directed and assisted several adult and children’s choirs in Ireland.
Rebecca maintains an active performance diary as both collaborative pianist and recitalist across Ireland and the UK and regularly curates concert series and recitals in the South East of Ireland. She enjoys working with singers as a coach specialising in French, Italian, German and English-language repertoire. Concerts and recital tours with singers and instrumentalists have brought her to the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg and the UK. She is also a trained classical violinist, holding an MA (Hons) in Classical String Performance (Irish World Academy of Music and Dance) and has performed professionally with chamber and symphony orchestras throughout Ireland and the UK. Passionate about the promotion and performance of contemporary music by Irish and Ireland-based composers, Rebecca has worked extensively with composers to workshop and promote their new compositions.
